Henry Hudson’s Half Moon

The students at Blue Mountain Middle School in Cortlandt Manor, NY worked together to design and build their interpretation of Henry Hudson’s Half Moon, April 11-14, 2011. What makes this project most interesting is that it’s the kid’s vision and their hard work that you’re seeing. Artists Larry Moss and Laurie Straus were only on site to teach and coach them through the project.

The student’s original design looked like this:

The final sculpture, four days later, looked like this:

This is an amazing project that you all have inspired the kids to create.
This one of those childhood projects memories that they will carry with them.

The project that my entire school made was outstanding. It was hard work but we all worked together to make it outstanding for our community to see.
