A word from the Phelps Art Center

We're really excited about the program we have coming up at the Phelps Art Center. We've mentioned it a couple times already on the blog. This is going to be an awesome event and we'd love to have as many people take part as possible. We need people to sign up to build with us and even more to come and see it when it's done. That's why it's hard to keep quiet about it. But we figure some of you are tired of hearing us talk about this one event. Fair enough. We'll shut up and let the folks at the Phelps Art Center tell you about it in their words ...

The Phelps Arts Center would like to present you with an opportunity to be part of building a "Once-in-a-Lifetime" exhibit!

Starting on July 27, 2013, Airigami Balloon artists Larry Moss and Kelly Cheatle (www.airigami.com) will be recreating, on a very large scale in our Main Gallery Space, the 18th century masterpiece, "The Swing" by Jean-Honoré Fragonard, out of balloons!  Here's where you come in! Over the course of 5 days, help from the community will make this happen. The more help, the more balloons can be included and the more amazing the exhibit will be!

From July 27-July 31, 2013, we will be holding "Artists in Residence Workshops" where members of the community can work with the Airigami artists to build this exhibit. No previous balloon twisting experience is needed.  The morning "Build Team" will work from 9am-noon followed by lunch with Larry and Kelly from noon-1pm. The afternoon "Build Team" will join everyone for lunch at noon and then work from 1pm-4pm. This will be an exciting and fun team building experience.

The cost for the workshop is $25 per person or $100 for a group of 5 people signing up to work together.  These fees will cover the cost of lunch, help cover the cost of the exhibit and benefit the Phelps Arts Center and our continuing efforts to provide interesting and exciting events, such as Airigami, for our community.

To reserve your spot, stop by the Phelps Arts Center during our current Gallery Hours (1:00-4:00pm on Thursday-Saturday) or call us at 315-548-2095 (Office) or 315-515-8400 (Cell)!

We look forward to having you join us for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity!
