To Infinity and Beyond

The Macy's Thanksgiving parade Buzz Lightyear balloon may have been incredibly different from the things I make, but you might not realize that based on the number of people needed to handle it. It could easily have been one of my crews. Seventy-nine balloon handlers, plus a pilot, two assistant pilots, a captain and two assistant captains were needed to walk the giant space ranger from 81st street to 34th. And of course, that's just walking the parade route. I wasn't around to see any of the design or construction stuff.

It was a fun experience. Maybe I'll do it again next year.
